And then…there was pure bliss

It was the time when the breeze felt pleasant and the wait was over.

Paroma Popat (Bride)

Nishank Patel (Groom)

ishank and I are polar opposites. I met Nishank in 2016 for the first time, as his mother approached me to organise a photoshoot for her collection. Later, his mother invited my best friend and me for dinner, hoping that Nishank and I might hit it off. I wasn't very keen on the idea back then, as I was seeing someone, but destiny played its part! Initially our plan was to have the wedding in April. Due to the pandemic, we had to postpone it to November. And that was honestly the best decision ever! All our close family and friends attended the wedding and truly enjoyed it. From the 350 attendees, there were no positive cases and everyone was healthy and happy. The hotel staff ensured masking and sanitizing at all times. The pandemic wedding was not something we were expecting, but I truly believe everything happens for a reason. The wedding, despite the struggles, was a dream come true.

THE PROPOSAL: A few years passed before I saw him again after the first date, and my family was on the lookout for an ideal match for me. I met him, and this time things were different. As cliche as it may sound, there was a spark right from the beginning. We dated for six months and I fell for him. On a trip to the Maldives, Nishank went down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was a surprise, completely unexpected but beautiful and I couldn’t wait to say yes.

MEMORABLE MOMENT: My absolute favorite from the wedding is the surprise speech I gave for Nishank prior to the Varmala ceremony. Nishank nervously muttered, “Did we have to prepare something?” I tried so hard not to laugh out loud. Verbalising my admiration and boundless love for him, while he teared up, was a freeing experience. It’s a memory I’m going to hold on forever.

CHOICE OF OBEROI SUKHVILAS: I’ve never had a dream wedding or such in mind. Even so, as a Bollywood fanatic, I did wish for an extravagant event and what can be better than a wedding at the Oberoi Sukhvilas.

CREATIVE TEAM: I’d like to mention that one of the main reasons the wedding happened as smoothly and effortlessly as it did was the Praxis team. All the credit goes to Saima and Prasanna’s well coordinated dynamic. They were enthusiastic, eager, persevering, understanding and patient. The wedding would not have been possible without the two. Secondly, the decorator, Amaahyaaj and the makeup artist, Shraddha were extremely calm, considerate and determined. Their innovation and creativity was distinctly visible in their work. Shraddha was my first and only option as far as make up and hair was concerned. I remember sitting with the wedding planner, and my first question was “Will Shraddha be available on those dates?”. Her approach to minimal yet glamorous makeup was something I’ve always appreciated.
